A collaboration between Vueltta, the metaverse art collective + Decentraland

The Dear Vivienne Anti-Fashion Catwalk was held on Thursday 30th March 2023 as part of Metaverse Fashion Week 2023. Community members were invited to “walk the catwalk in your most ‘anti-fashion’ wearables” to celebrate the legacy of Dame Vivienne Westwood.
We designed a circular catwalk in the upper floor of our Dear Vivienne installation specifically for the event. Over 90 people participated in the catwalk show, which was covered by Meteor, the web3 media platform.

Dear Vivienne was the Metaverse Fashion Week 2023 installation by Adrián Martínez and I (working as Vueltta). Through the work, we aimed to highlight the connections between Vivienne Westwood’s legacy of ‘anti-fashion’ rebellion with the counter-cultural creativity of today’s digital worlds.
In the final decade of her life, Vivienne made all of her catwalks digital to reduce their climate impact, and promoted ‘anti-fashion’ – a more conscious approach to fashion. This placed self-expression and well-made designs over ‘fast-fashion’ and consumerism (which Vivienne believed had begun to dominate the fashion industry). To recognise this, Adrián and I created an ‘Anti-fashion Catwalk Show’ for the Decentraland metaverse community.
